I was working on a Turbo Air makeup table MST 60-24. It was completely out of refrigerant upon my arrival. It holds a 15.5 oz charge of R134A, I added 11oz of R134a (I was gas charging to avoid liquid slugging). The high side was rising, but the low side barely hit atmospheric pressure (the high side was around 100 psig) before the compressor stalled and then hit LRA. The LRA is 9 amps, I hit 21.3 amps. Yes, I know the compressor locked up at that point.
The customer informed me that the previous company replace the cap tube, it was 1/8" o.d. I thought it was way oversized as for I've never seen such a large cap tube on a small system. I couldn't keep it running long enough to check anything else, i.e. Liquid restriction, bad compressor vales, etc. Anyone got any idea what size that cap tube should be? I think that had a lot to do with my issues.
