Sound deadening a mini fridge?

The compressor on my mini fridge is making a 50db noise at 2 feet away. It's not too bad, but it's quiet unpleasant when it's the only thing making noise in a quiet room.

My concern is two fold. One, is this going to actually work? I don't know which component is actually making most of the noise, it's possible that the compressor shell isn't vibrating that much. Two, is this going to overheat? Compressor can run pretty how, I know it's got overheat protection and I only need a temp of 50F.

The material i'm using is basically a .5cm thick rubber/vinyl mat that sticks to surfaces, making the surface heavier and harder to vibrate. Works really well when used on something like a gong.
