Our refrigerator was just replaced, and the landlord let us know that although the new unit has an ice maker on the freezer side, they will not be hooking it up to the water line because of the potential for leaks.
What I am wanting to do is just to make ice cubes in a normal freezer tray, dump them into the ice bucket, and then use the ice dispenser on the front of the freezer like normal.
I have loaded two trays of ice cubes into the bucket, but when I push the ice dispenser thing on the front, nothing happens.
It makes a motor sound like it should be dispensing the ice, but it does not sound like the metal spiral rod inside the ice bucket is spinning at all, so no ice drops out.
This question may be very stupid, but do you have any idea why the ice that I put in isn’t being dispensed? Does it have to be connected to water to function correctly?
Thanks for any help!
