Should I be worried about R600a fridge freezers?

My parent's new fridge freezer is an r600a one compared to an r134a one previously. I know it is unlikely they will leak without external percussive maintenance, but it still worries me a little bit. How likely are they to leak? Are they pungent when they do, like natural gas to warn you of your house filling up with explosive gas?

I am aware that something like this could have been a contributing factor in the Grenfell apartment block fire in London (my parents don't live in a block, but I don't like explosions!), is this on environmental grounds now or is it just cost cutting?

Thanks in advance
