Simple VCR to Multi-stage

I have designed a simple vapor compression cycle in a simulation software called DWSIM. The refrigeration system consists of the four main components: compressor, condenser, expansion valve, and evaporator. I have successfully run the simulation. Now, my task is to optimize the system and convert it into a multi-stage, in this case, two-stage, compression cycle. The question is, what are the parameters to consider? How does one make a simple VCR and convert it into a two-stage cycle?
