Whirlpool French door fridge - 24 hours to cool down? Fridge seems to have trouble staying at 37 to 38 degrees. Takes forever to get to correct temperature?

Whirlpool French door - 24 hours?

I just purchased a whirlpool French door fridge after having our old GE fridge of 24 years die.

So having a new fridge feels like something out of Star Trek for us lol. Anyhow...

The question is I’m noticing it seems to take forever for the fridge side to cool down.

We let it sit for about 6 to 7 hours before we just added a few sodas and bottle waters to the fridge. I have a little thermometer in it. And originally it got to around 36. So we added some drinks, only a few.

But now I notice that within a minute of opening the fridge the temperature becomes 41 to 42 real quick. Sometimes higher and then takes hours and hours to even get back down to 40.

On the temperature control unit, Whirlpool told me to keep the freezer set at the number 4 which is 0 degrees for the freezer and 4 for the fridge which should be around 37-38. But now I can’t ever seem to get back into the 37-38 range?

I decided to read the manual to see if it can provide any answered and noticed it said give the unit 24 hours to cool down. We didn’t give it 24 before adding in a few drinks.

So do we need to go back, remove the drinks for the fridge and just let it cook for 24 hours? It has been producing ice no problem in the bottom section without any issues. And the freezer hits 0 degree with ease.

So just curious if it’s normal doe the whirlpool French door style refrigerators to take forever to cool? Will food be safe in the future or do I need to remove the soda’s and water and empty the fridge and just let it cook with items for 24 hours? Thoughts?
