[help] Heated receivers in old CO2/HFC cascade systems.

I'm fairly new to the trade and I've started with transcritical systems and I'm a bit confused with the old co2 cascades I'm seeing because instead of having the suction line going through the flash tank to cool it down like in it's done in transcritical, these systems have the hot gas side of the co2 cascade going through the receiver. Presumably to raise the pressure to get sufficient mass flow? Can anyone confirm this?

It feels hella sketchy to pump these systems down because the receiver gets hot and it's CO2. I'd honestly just fill these through suction because I'm not fucking around with a hot CO2 receiver. But if I ever have to pump these down... how?
